Position Summary

The Development & Communications Department ensures that the broader community of caring community members, funders and government agencies support the essential social services offered by JFCS.
Going into 2024, with an annual budget of $13M, JFCS currently receives funding from a robust array of foundation and government entities.
Government grants support a significant portion of JFCS’s programs and services.
The Grant Writer will work alongside the leadership team to ensure that programs maintain sustainable funding through compelling and detail-oriented proposals and comprehensive, data-driven reports to government stakeholders, demonstrating the strength of programming provided through JFCS.
Primary responsibilities of this Grant Writer position will focus on government funding.
Duties will include preparation and writing of proposals, grant applications, and funding reports in collaboration with the JFCS leadership team.
Responsibilities extend to coordinating content and research, as well as identifying, developing and responding to government grant opportunities in a timely manner to secure funding for JFCS’ programs and services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Write, prepare and submit funding proposals for government grants.
Work with appropriate personnel to gather data, assemble information, write narratives, and submit compelling proposals to government entities.
Work with the leadership team to write government grants and reports, keeping track of and adhering to deadlines.
Manage clear processes and procedures to collect and consolidate materials and information in a timely manner.
Collaborate with the Chief Financial Officer to inform the process of creating budgets for reports and government applications.
Maintain and track all government contracts in grant tracking software in coordination with the Database Administrator & Development Associate.
Research and identify new government funding prospects and track all opportunities for new RFPs as they emerge.
Acknowledge all grant notifications (regardless of outcome) in coordination with the CEO and the Database Administrator & Development Associate.
Participate in training and development activities consistent with job responsibilities.
Other activities as required.
