UPMC Corporate Communications is hiring a Student Worker – Internal Communications Intern to join our team! This intern will work with the department for Summer 2024.
The position will work 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, during business hours.
This paid internship at the rate of $20/hour and is a hybrid work position, allowing for both work-from-home and in-office time.
We are looking for individuals who are pursuing an undergraduate degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism, Health Sciences, Business Administration or a related field.
All individuals will be required to provide a writing sample upon applying to the role.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to Internal Communications department processes, including editing content, submitting to publications, collaborating with colleagues, and other processes as outlined by department leadership.
Collaborate with team members to provide internal communications support for the UPMC International division, hospitals, system clients, and special projects.
Independently plan, research, and write copy that is creative, well organized, concise, appropriate to the audience, channel, and purpose, and aligned with department style.
Approach projects and collaboration opportunities with an eager-to-learn attitude and a sense of curiosity and creativity.
Take responsibility for approvals and accuracy of information communicated.
Demonstrate service-oriented behavior in line with UPMC Values in interactions with clients and co-workers.
Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize projects appropriately to meet deadlines.
Performs in accordance with systemwide competencies/behaviors.
Qualifications:
Undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Communications, English, Public Relations, Journalism, Health Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred
Proficiency in writing and editing
Ability to work independently on a number of separate, simultaneous tasks
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 tools
Excellent communication, multitasking, organizational, writing, grammar, and interpersonal skills
