General Summary:
The Sales Associate is responsible for customer engagements involving sales techniques.
The Sales Associate position will also be trained as a cashier.
The Sales Associate position is also responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Requirements:
Customer Service
Project a positive representation of Wexford Ace Hardware.
Greet customers entering and throughout the store.
Project a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
Clear customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
Answer and monitor all calls and pages promptly, courteously, and effectively.
Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.
Continually build product knowledge base and assist customers with store layout and product location.
Assist in pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging of merchandise.
Register Operations
Follow all cash register transaction procedures.
Responsible for balancing of register drawer.
Adhere to any Store promotions that may require implementation at the cash registers.
Participate in store and Cashier meetings.
Store Appearance and Upkeep
Keep the store and stock room, including checkout areas and entrance doors, neat and clean at all times.
Assist with keeping counters stocked with merchandise.
Respond for cart pickups when necessary.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High School or GED equivalent.
Sales experience preferred, but not required.
A commitment to service, excellence and customer satisfaction.
Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Communicate any problem or issue that requires management assistance.
Continually build product knowledge base and assist customers with store layout and product location.
Assist in pricing, stocking, marking, and bagging of merchandise.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for an extended period of time.
Move and handle boxes of merchandise and fixtures throughout the store, which entails lifting.
