is currently looking for a Process Engineer to provide technical support to scale up H Quest’s technology platform.
To do this, the Process Engineer would quantify gas composition, analyze thermal interactions, and find the correct chemical engineering requirements and work with specific vendors through a complete product build.
This will be a onsite and hands-on role involving building and designing experiments.

Responsibilities:
Lead technology evaluation and down-selection for multiphase separation and solids handling & conveyance unit operations for scale-up purposes (experience with gas/solids separation systems is preferred)
Develop process simulations and process engineering packages for existing and next-generation systems
Perform equipment design & sizing calculations, and define process criteria to support equipment specification & subsequent technology/equipment selection
Source vendors, subject matter expert contractors/consultants, and suppliers
Lead technical aspects of vendor and supplier interactions for scale up design trade-off studies and front end engineering
Provide technical guidance for the development and documentation of commissioning plans and SOPs for operations and maintenance of multiphase separation and solids handling process areas
Building and designing experiments
Participate in Process Hazard Analysis and HAZOP exercises as owner of solids separation and handling process areas
Provide technical support for development of internal process engineering design packages, and verify deliverables received from outside contractors (including PFDs, Heat & Mass Balances, P&IDs, and trade-off studies)
Startup environment: Other duties as assigned/as needed to support the team in a fast-paced & dynamic environment
Essential Skills and Experience:
Past experience with Gas Chromatograph systems
Experience with Python
Excellent interpersonal skills including strong oral and written communication abilities
Detail-oriented, organized, motivated, and flexible
Ability to work both independently and as a team player, capable of building strong internal and external relationships
Demonstrate a high level of initiative, ethical standards, and confidentiality
Able to multitask, prioritize, and resolve issues independently
Experience with designing, selecting, and/or operating multiphase (gas/solid) separation and heat exchange unit operations and equipment
Experience with designing and selecting solid powder handling equipment for industrial scale systems
Basic knowledge of industry codes, regulations, standards, and best practices associated with solids handling equipment and dust management techniques
Minimum Expectations:
3+ years of professional experience
2-3 years of experience as a process engineer in the development of innovative industrial technology is preferred
Experience with the carbon black industry and/or pyrolysis processes is considered a strong asset
Experienced in the preparation of technical scope of work for RFP packages, and experience with client-EPC consultancy engagements (both client and EPC experience would be considered and asset)
Experience with engineering project cost estimation standards
Competency with process simulation tools (ASAP, PROMAX, HYSYS, and/or ASPENPLUS)
Strong experience in reading, defining, developing, and interpreting PFDs, Heat & Mass Balances, and P&IDs
Experience with Process Hazard Analysis & HAZOP Studies
Previous experience specifying & selecting process equipment, valves, & instrumentation, specifically for multiphase (gas/solid) separation
Experience navigating the following codes & standards in previous projects is considered a strong asset:
ASME B31.
12
ASME BPVC
NFPA 497, 499, and 652
Prior use of MacBooks is a plus
High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products with the ability to learn new software products
